With the Rumdamol Housing Board coming under the scanner of the health authorities following the suspected dengue death of a five-year-old boy, the Curtorim Primary Health Centre has undertaken breeding source reduction drive in the village since the last two days.
Field staff of PHC Curtorim along with staff of Margao Urban Health Centre has visited all the houses of Ward No. 7 and Ward No. 4 in the Rumdamol Housing Board in the last two days to check for breeding sites and fever cases.
While removing water accumulation containers, the residents were also instructed to clear unwanted containers outside the houses.
Curtorim Health Officer Dr Vallabh Nadkarni informed that the health centre is closely monitoring the situation at Rumdamol to ensure there are no more dengue cases in the Housing Board. “Given that the situation demands multipronged exercise, the health centre has written a letter to the district Collector seeking intervention to clear the garbage dumps and the abandoned vehicles
