The KTC EV bus inaugurated on the Cutbona-Margao route.

In a significant boost to public transport connectivity in Velim, a new Kadamba EV bus has been officially blessed and commissioned to operate along the Cutbona“Margao route via Chinchinim.

This long-awaited service addresses a pressing need for reliable transportation in the region, especially for daily commuters, students, and senior citizens.

The bus was blessed by Parish Priest Fr Matheus Rodrigues of St Rock’s Church, Tolleacanto at a program attended by Velim Sarpanch Veena Cardozo and local residents.

The blessing marked a moment of unity and gratitude, as the community gathered to celebrate a long-overdue improvement in public mobility.

The initiative comes after sustained efforts by Velim MLA Cruz Silva, who consistently raised the issue in multiple Assembly sessions. During the most recent session, the Transport Ministry had assured the House of prompt action to resolve the transport gap in the constituency.

MLA Cruz Silva expressed heartfelt gratitude to Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho and KTC Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar for their swift response and commitment to the people of Velim. “This bus is not just a vehicle”it’s a promise fulfilled, a step toward dignified mobility for our residents,” said Silva.

The new service is expected to ease travel burdens, reduce dependence on private vehicles, and enhance access to Margao’s educational, healthcare, and commercial hubs. Constituents welcomed the move, calling it a “timely intervention” that reflects responsive governance.
