Cycle racks in cars: Road safety activists say they pose danger

With protruding contraptions fitted in four-wheelers causing a nuisance, road safety activists have called for an awareness drive to ensure the safety of road users.

“These are used to carry a cycle on the rear portion of the car. It is illegal and in clear violation of the Motor Vehicles Act. The issue was recently discussed at a meeting of the North District Road Safety Committee wherein the stakeholders resolved to take strict action to end the illegal practice.
