Never interfered in CLP leader issue: Chodankar

PANAJI

Former GPCC president Girish Chodankar said that he never interfered in the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader as he is no longer the chief of the party.

When contacted by The Goan, Chodankar informed the he is neither a MLA nor the GPCC chief.

“So there’s no question of me interfering in the process,” Chodankar said while adding that if his opinion is sought only then will he be able to suggest anybody's name.

“There’s a process for electing the CLP leader,” he added while denying that he had gone to Delhi to canvass for candidate of his choice.

Meanwhile, St Cruz MLA Rudolf Fernandes said there is no rift among the leaders over the choice of CLP leader.

“Whoever is chosen, either Yuri or Carlos or Amonkar, we all will extend support to the chosen one,” Fernandes said and added that he is not interested in the post.

“I have to concentrate on my constituency and I will not be able to dedicate time for anything else,” he stated.

On the other hand, Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai said that he is not aware about the CLP leader issue as he is busy with the work in his constituency
