With the Centre advising States to take preventive measures over tomato flu, State Epidemiologist Prashant Suryawanshi said that the surveillance is already in place.
"Earlier too, the Centre had issued such advisory and it has been sent to IMA, CHCs, PHCs, district hospitals, GMC to keep a watch and report any case showing symptoms of tomato fever," Suryawanshi stated.
The doctor further said that under the school health programme, the students are advised to properly wash their hands before eating and after using toilet," Dr Suryawanshi stated and added that the Anganwadis and ANMs are also involved as the flu mostly affects children below 10 years of age.
"If anybody shows signs of lesions, then the same needs to be reported and treatment started," he further said.
