VALPOI
A survey of the affected areas has been initiated, and officials have begun conducting spot inspections, after strong winds on Saturday night and Sunday caused widespread damage at Nanus in Valpoi munitipality.
Several houses in and around Valpoi suffered structural damage, while falling trees led to significant losses, including damage to a local bakery, and blocked roads.
According to Sattari Mamlatdar Dhirendra Banawalikar, inspections are being carried out through local talathis, and necessary forms have been issued to the affected residents.
He appealed to affected residents to complete formalities and submit documents to the Mamlatdar’s office at the earliest.
A detailed report will be forwarded to the government, following which compensation will be provided.
Meanwhile, Health Minister and Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane visited the affected site and assured financial assistance to Suraj Pokale, whose bakery suffered heavy losses after a tree fell on the structure.
He also assured that repairs to the damaged house would begin within the next two days. Local councillor Vinod Hardekar extended support in coordinating relief efforts.
Banawalikar stated that all fallen trees have now been cleared and road connectivity has been restored. He appealed to residents to cooperate with officials to ensure timely processing of compensation.
Meanwhile, residents have expressed concern over repeated incidents of falling trees due to recent cyclonic conditions across Sattari. They have demanded that dangerous trees be trimmed before the monsoon to prevent further damage. They have also urged the administration to coordinate with the forest department and take preventive measures to remove hazardous trees and reduce future risks.
