In an apparent bid to soothe ruffled feathers amongst the party rank and file, BJP State president Sadanand Tanavade on Thursday said that those who have lost the race for the party ticket need not feel demoralised, saying the party will accommodate them in positions in the organisation.
Saying that all the aspirants cannot be accommodate with party tickets, Tanavade said the BJP does not discriminate between MLAs and members of the organisation. “We treat the MLAs as well as the workers on par in the organisation. Those who have failed to get the ticket will be given positions in the organisation and will be involved in the task of party building,” he told the media during his visit to Navelim constituency on Thursday.
Tanavade sought to push the buck on the party central election committee for finalising the candidates based on the list submitted by the State leadership, saying the party leadership in Delhi has finalised the candidates after taking into account various view points.
When asked whether the BJP would win the ensuing polls with 27 or 22 seats, Tanavade shot back saying he has never given the number of seats the party will win in the coming polls. He, however, exuded confidence of returning to power with a majority of its own.
