Banking and other services were hit in the commercial capital as BSNL's internet services were badly hit for well around 20 hours following damage to the OFC cable at two places due to road digging by the National highway.
Internet services, which were disrupted at around 5.30 pm on Thursday were restored only at around 2 pm on Friday.
BSNL's General Manager Yohesh Chandra Misha attributed the delay in the restoration of internet services to the fact the OFC cable was damaged at two places, including Bambolim.
Yohesh disclosed plans to send a notice to the National highway officials for damaging the OFC cable. ‘The BSNL will also raise a bill to recover the damages, he said.
Yogesh, however, made a fervent plea to the agencies to cooperate with the agencies to prevent such incidents. ‘Damage to the underground cables only disrupt the services and put the public to inconvenience, he said.
