The family of a man murdered at Kuynemol-Sanguem is yet to accept the body after the autopsy, even as Sanguem police on Thursday evening arrested two close relatives in connection with murder.
The charred body of Shantaram Shanu Shirodkar was found in a cashew plantation near the Sanguem-Kalay road on December 24.
Amid accusations that police had been slow in the investigations, police arrested Shantaram's brother, Ravidas, and his son Jai in connection with the murder.
Shantaram had gone missing since the evening of December 23 and his charred male body was found in a cashew plantation near the Sanguem-Kalay road on December 24. A police team led by Sanguem PI Sagar Ekoskar and PSI Sudin Redkar were investigating the case.
On December 28, Sachi Shirodkar, daughter of Shantaram Shirodkar, filed a police complaint strongly suspecting that her uncle, Ravidas Shirodkar, and his son Jai had committed the murder sometime between 3.30 pm on December 23, when the victim was last seen, and 9.30 am on December 24, when charred body was found.
In her complaint, Sachi also alleged that the two accused tried to destroy evidence by burning the body. Based on her complaint, Police arrested the two under Sections 302, 201 read with 34 IPC.
