Damu debunks GFP’s poll withdrawal claims in favour of MCA

MARGAO
Vibrant Margao Chairman and BJP leader Damu Naik has pooh-poohed the claims made by Goa Forward that as many as 11 candidates in the fray have withdrawn in favour of the Margao Civic Alliance-backed candidates.

The Chairman of the BJP-backed panel said that the claims made by the Goa Forward once again go to show that the party has not given up making false claims to fool the people of Margao and Fatorda. “The Goa Forward Party is known for spreading lies to misguide the people. It was shocking that the regional party made a tall claim that 11 independent candidates have withdrawn from the fray in their favour,” he said.

Asserting that Goa Forward has tried to capitalize on the withdrawal of the dummy candidates to show the people that candidates have withdrawing in support of the Margao Civic Alliance, Damu said such cheap tactics will not help the Goa Forward or the Margao Civic Alliance to return to power in the Margao civic body.

He pointed out that the dummy candidates fielded by the BJP-backed Vibrant Margao have also withdrawn from the fray, but the party or the panel did not go to the town to announce that the candidates have withdrawn in favour of the panel.

Moving around in ward 11 of the Margao Municipal Council with Vibrant Margao-backed candidate Jaya Amonkar, Damu appealed to the people not to believe in falsehood and lies spread by the rival candidates.

He told the people that the BJP has given representation to women in ward 11 even though the ward has been made general post-SC verdict. “In the first notification, the ward was reserved for women and then later dereserved,” he said, adding, “But we have decided to retain Jaya Amonkar as the Vibrant Margao candidate even though the ward is now dereserved for women after the SC verdict”.
