Aarti, the daughter of Gopal Hamal, the Mayor of a sub-metropolitan city in Nepal, was reported missing from Goa on Tuesday, where she had been practising meditation for the past few months. Her disappearance prompted an immediate search effort led by local authorities.
The initial report suggested that Aarti, a Nepali resident visiting Goa as a tourist, was last seen at a wellness resort in Mandrem. Law enforcement launched search parties and scoured CCTV footage to trace her whereabouts. Throughout the night, diligent efforts were made to locate her, with teams combing beaches and establishments.
Fortunately, after extensive search operations, Aarti was found. She had voluntarily left her mobile phone behind, hindering communication with her family. However, she was located at another wellness resort and provided with the necessary support and medical assistance. "Aarti is safe and fine. There is no kidnapping angle. She had voluntarily moved from one wellness centre to another, without her mobile phone. She is being counselled by NGOs", said North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal.
Despite rumours circulating about Aarti's political connections due to her father's position, the police maintained that her case was treated as any other missing person report, with the utmost priority placed on her safety.
