Agitated residents of Davorlim village hit the streets late Friday as the village witnessed a major power outage since evening.
Till late Friday evening, the agitated residents had assembled near the Panchayat ghar, demanding the immediate restoration of power supply. They claimed that large parts of Davorlim village was hit by power outage since 5 pm on Friday, while protesting over the failure of the department to restore power supply.
A resident Anand Sawant told the media that large parts of Davorlim went without power supply, even as he demanded to know why neighbouring Margao enjoyed uninterrupted power supply.
A lady Junior engineer who made her presence felt explained the people that she is in charge of the low tension line, adding she has come on the site to offer her services even though the fault lay with the high tension line.
She told the people that the department has taken a decision to shift the high tension line from the jungle area towards the main road, reassuring the people that work on the line shifting will commence soon.
Incidentally, senior power officials were conspicuous by their absence at the site.
