MARGAO

A Davorlim resident has lodged a complaint with the Maina-Curtorim police alleging he was cheated of Rs 1.15 lakh in an online scam involving the purchase of a samosa manufacturing machine.

Complainant Imran Khan Nagroli told police that on March 15, 2026, he came across a Facebook advertisement offering a samosa manufacturing machine for sale. Believing the advertisement and vendor to be genuine, he clicked on the link provided and paid the full purchase amount.

The vendor subsequently assured him that the machine would be delivered within a few days and shared a tracking link showing the order as being processed. However, the order status was later changed to “cancelled”.

When Nagroli contacted the company representative seeking a refund, he was allegedly told to “forget the matter”.

Police said the complainant was allegedly duped of Rs 1,15,660 through the fraudulent scheme, resulting in wrongful loss to him and wrongful gain to the accused.

A case under Section 318(4) of the BNS has been registered against unknown persons.
