Davorlim-Dicarpale discusses land utilisation issues

Feels it improper to oppose low-intensity towers for connectivity in village

MARGAO
The utilisation of some land for its earmarked purpose came to the fore at the fag end of the Davorlim-Dicarpale gram sabha held on May 7. The gram sabha also felt it was improper to oppose the installation of low intensity towers for connectivity.
A section of the locals demanded that comunidade land marked in a survey number be retained and utilised for its earmarked purpose. They also urged the comunidade to stop any misutilisation of the aforementioned land other than the purpose for which it has been earmarked.
Pointing out to an earlier resolution in this regard adopted by the gram sabha some three years ago resolving to develop this land for constructing a children’s park and joggers park including compound wall on this particular plot of land, a section of the locals cried foul over alleged attempts to develop this land into plots for sale to interested buyers by a developer. On its part, the panchayat informed the gram sabha that the resolution three years ago, was forwarded to the RDA (South) with a request for the development of the land for the aforementioned purpose.
The locals also urged the concerned comunidade to put up a board at this site to alert any possible buyer of the plots.
The gram sabha was informed by the comunidade attorney that the comunidade was the rightful owner of this land and any such purchase of such plots would be illegal.
In yet another matter, locals alleged land filling in land pertaining to two other survey numbers. Locals suggested that the concerned comunidade file a case to take back the land on the alleged grounds of digression of purpose.
Sarpanch Tulshidas Desai, who chaired the gram sabha informed locals that the panchayat will request the ZP to re-tender work for refurbishing a balwadi in the village as the same is in dilapidated state. He assured to send a fresh proposal to the ZP to cancel the earlier tender and issue a fresh one.
The gram sabha also felt it was improper to oppose the installation of low intensity towers for connectivity.
Permission sought by the Electricity department for installing a communication tower in the village also came up for discussion.
Earlier, sarpanch Desai informed the gram sabha about the works undertaken by the panchayat during its tenure.
