MARGAO
Post mortem examination on the bodies of the boy and girl from Punjab at Colva beach last week has revealed that the duo had died due to hanging, even as the two bodies were handed over the Punjab police on Wednesday.
The arrival of the Punjab police and the relatives of the deceased boy has revealed that the duo were not married. In fact, sources said that Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Margao Uday Prabhudesai had turned down the plea of the police to conduct an inquiry into the case since the police did not produce documents to prove that the boy and girl were married and that the death of the girl has come within seven years of marriage.
Colva police station in-charge, PI Filomena Costa informed that the body of the boy Bhairon Singh was handed over to his relatives, while the body of deceased girl, Harvinder Kaur was given in possession of the Punjab police to conduct last rites. "The post mortem examination was conducted in the presence of the Punjab police and the relatives," he said.
Replying to a question, PI Costa said the Colva police has taken the case papers from the Punjab police in view of the fact that a kidnapping case stands registered against the boy back home in Punjab. Further investigations are on.
