Decision taken to write to GSPCB on mobile towers

The gram sabha of Seraulim village on Sunday discussed whether the village should allow or disallow mobile towers, even as it doesn’t have a single tower.

After much deliberations, it was finally decided that the panchayat should write to the Goa State Pollution Control Board to depute experts to explain to the villagers the health hazards of mobile towers.  
At the gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Leslie Dourdao on Sunday the issue of mobile towers dominated the proceedings, with members for and against towers voicing their views.
The issue figured at the gram sabha when members demanded to know why there are no mobile towers in the village. After the sarpanch explained the reasons, another member pointed out that the village does not require mobile towers since the connectivity is relatively good. Sarpanch Leslie told The Goan that Seraulim village have no mobile towers, adding that even during the BRICS summit, the panchayat had only issued NOCs for temporary towers, which were dismantled after the summit.  
Meanwhile, the gram sabha has demanded that the panchayat write to the Water Resources Department 
to build around four to five village bundhs to help irrigate the fields for the benefit of farmers.
