Mobile tower issue discussed

The Curtorim gram sabha on Sunday discussed the issue of a mobile tower which has come up on the village border neighbouring Davorlim and Sao Jose de Areal.

MARGAO

The gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Lucy Rebello deliberated on the mobile tower since the company had rushed with its erection without taking the mandatory NOC from the village panchayat. Members pointed out that since the tower is coming up close to the village border, the panchayat should find out the say of the neighbouring panchayats on the illegal tower.
After much discussions, it was decided that the panchayat should write to the neighbouring panchayats and ascertain their stand on the mobile tower coming in their backyard.
The issue of the village feast fair also figured during the discussions, when a member demanded to know the sanitary arrangements put in place for vendors. Members suggested that a mechanism should be put in place to tackle the waste generated during the fair and put an end to open defecation by the vendors.
