The former speaker and senior leader of the BJP, Advocate Vishwas Satarkar has claimed that MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar could win from Priol only because the BJP had helped him, but now he would never become an MLA.
"He will not win from Shiroda and hence he should take political sanyas," Satarkar said.
Former Priol MLA Satarkar was speaking during the booth karyakarta sammelan of the BJP at Mardol in Priol constituency.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant, BJP's north Goa candidate Shripad Naik, former speaker Rajendra Arlekar, Adv. Vishwas Satarkar, Betki Khandola Sarpanch Dilip Naik, Vere Waghurme sarpanch Satyavan Shilkar, Veling Priol Cuncolim sarpanch Laxmikant Khedekar and others were present on the occasion.
Satarkar came down heavily on Deepak Dhavalikar, who is contesting the bypoll in Shiroda against BJP candidate Subhash Shirodkar, and said that the former would lose in Shiroda.
"He has no place in Shiroda or in Priol. He will never get elected. Hence, he should take political sanyas," Satarkar said, while appealing to party workers to strive hard so that the BJP candidate gets a good lead.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that schemes implemented by Manohar Parrikar are benefiting many people.
"We have to fulfil the dreams of Bhai (Parrikar). Atal Setu was not his last dream. He also wanted Narendra Modi to become prime minister again. We want to fulfil his dream," Sawant said, certain that people would vote for Shripad Naik as he had done a lot of development works in Priol.
According to Shripad Naik, he is in politics to help society.
"For us, nation should be first, then party and then us. This is our principle," he said.
Rajendra Arlerkar said that there is a need to channelise the network of Priol to get a good lead. "We need to go to voters with the message of Narendra Modi and the works that BJP has done," he said.
He appealed to supporters to even visit the homes of opposition workers and convince them. "A vote for Shripad is a vote for Modi," he said.
