Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) has alleged that the opponents are tarnishing the image of their candidate for Panaji bye-poll Subhash Velingkar and claimed that pamphlets containing defamatory content are being circulated in the city.

The party has filed a FIR against unknown persons for distributing the defamatory pamphlets by inserting them in newspapers on Friday. The party has demanded an investigation into the act and named some newspaper distributors in the city.

“The opponets have gone to a low level. They are trying to defame me and my family,” said Subhash Velingkar.

Velingkar told the media at a press conference that he will garner majority of votes from the traditional support base of both the BJP and the Congress as both parties have betrayed their supporters.

He said, the BJP tried to harass him when he started to talk against it, adding that the government had previously offered Rs 20 crore fund for construction of school buildings of institutions of which he was serving as the chairman. He said, the BJP’s revenge politics is not comparable with MGP and Congress governments.
