The Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (Goa-SEIAA), at its latest meeting, decided to grant Environmental Clearance (EC) to Deltin Corp for its proposed Rs 3,000 crore integrated township project at Dhargalim in Pernem Taluka.

The proposed integrated township will be spread over 90 acres close to the vicinity of the Manohar International Airport at Mopa and will be ready by 2027. The Goa Expert Appraisal Committee (Goa-SEAC) had in June recommended the project for prior EC.

The project will include three hotels, a convention centre, a multiplex, a retail area, a water park, banquet facilities, and a children’s entertainment area.

Goa-SEIAA has directed the project proponent to obtain all the necessary permissions including NOCs from forests and wildlife from the Standing Committee of National Board of Wildlife (NBW).

“The grant of EC does not necessarily imply that the forestry and wildlife clearance has been granted to the project, which has to be dealt with separately by the competent authority in accordance with the law,” the Authority said.

Goa-SEIAA has also directed the project proponent to seek permission under Water and Air Act from the Goa State Pollution Control Board in form of Consent to Establish prior setting up of the project and Consent to Operate thereafter, failing which the EC will be deemed to have withdrawn.

“Project proponents should clarify any issues related to public objections, if any, and should not conceal the scientific facts in the light of the proposed developmental activities vis-a-vis its land use categorisation or zoning,” the Authority said.

The green belt development has to be undertaken in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Central Pollution Control Board and the noise pollution level should be within the residential limit.
