A number of volunteers took part in the Aam Aadmi Party’s Rozgar Yatra in Cortalim on Thursday evening.
A bike rally began near the Cortalim ferry point and passed through many parts of Cortalim constituency, before culminating with booth level meetings at Cortalim Junction, MES College Junction and Sancoale.
During these meetings, AAP leaders reiterated Delhi Chief Minister and party supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s assurance of providing employment to youth if the Aam Aadmi Party was voted into power in the State.
AAP leader Joel Fernandes on Thursday said Goans could not find jobs despite having an industrial estate in Cortalim constituency.
Speaking to reporters during the AAP Rozgar Yatra in Cortalim, Fernandes said it was the duty of Cortalim BJP Alina Saldanha to ensure that jobs were available to locals at the industrial estate in Cortalim.
“We have organised this AAP Rozgar Yatra under the initiative of Arvind Kejriwal and are taking his message of tackling unemployment across all houses in all wards of Cortalim constituency. We want to tell people that the large scale unemployment in Goa will come to an end once we have AAP coming to power in Goa,” said Fernandes.
“Unemployment has been there for several years and neither the Congress nor the BJP did anything about it. We want to tell the youth of Cortalim that we have an industrial estate in the constituency and there are many private companies operating here and yet there are no jobs for the Goans here.
“Alina Saldanha has been MLA for 10 years and she should have taken some steps to speak with these companies to ensure that Goan youth get jobs in the Cortalim industrial estate.”
“Many youth don’t find jobs and are forced to go to places like Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore and other cities outside Goa in search of jobs. We appeal to people to vote AAP into power and we assured to resolve the issue of unemployment immediately,” said Fernandes.
