When Margao MLA Digambar Kamat descended along the Margao ring road along city BJP leader Sunil Naik on February 28 last, hopes were raised that the road leading to Cine Lata would be rid of scrap and abandoned vehicles and make room for vehicular parking.
Five months down the line, not only the scrap vehicles remain where they were, but the ring road now plays host to a couple of new scrap vehicles, indicating that the ground reality has not changed for the better, but has actually worsened since Kamat’s inspection of the road on February 28.
Take note, the scrap vehicles dumped along the Margao ring road which comes to a dead end near the Cine Lata colony does not figure in the list of abandoned vehicles compiled by the Margao Traffic police cell.
When Kamat with Sunil Naik in tow had descended at the ring road five months ago, the Margao MLA had seen for himself how the parking space along the roadside had been occupied by the scrap and abandoned vehicles.
In fact, after the inspection, the Margao MLA had told the media that he had told the Dy SP Traffic Prabodh Shirwaikar to inspect the entire area and compile a report on priority.
Sadly, when The Goan team visited the site on Wednesday, the ground reality has not only remained unchanged, but the number of scrap vehicles parked has shown an increase.
