Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar on Tuesday launched works worth Rs 36 lakh in the ST-dominated Gaondongrim village.
The works include the construction of a new road, two gutters and a protection wall in the village interior. The PWD will construct a new road at Bharse, a remote ward of Gaondongrim, where only a pathway exists.
Speaking in the presence of village sarpanch Puno Gaonkar, Tawadkar said the government will not lag behind in reaching out to the neglected masses.
In Bharse, the existing pathway could not cater to even a two-wheeler. But now, the pathway will be converted into a motorable road at a cost of Rs 19 lakh,” the minister said. “Residents of Bharse residents will now be able to take their motorcycles and four-wheelers into their locality very soon.”
At Ziltawadi, a gutter will be constructed at a cost of Rs 6.11 lakh and it will be completed before the monsoon.
At Karvem, another work to construct a gutter at a cost of Rs 6.35 lakh was launched, while at Kailawaddo in Karvem locality, the construction of a protection wall at a cost of Rs 6 lakh was initiated.
Sarpanch Puno Gaonkar, Gaondongrim Deputy Sarpanch Laxavati Velip, Panch Barkelo Velip and Canacona Councillor Hemant Naik Gaunkar and villagers and ward budhvonts were also present.
