Believed as the oldest Mahadev temple built in the 12th Century, many devotees from across the State visit here on the day of ‘mahashivratri’ and perform ‘abhishek’.
About 23 kms from Dharbandora, Tambdi Surla temple attracts many tourists. On Friday, too many foreign tourists were seen in the temple area worshipping Lord Shiva.
Though the temple is located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary area, away from the habitation, the good infrastructure of roads and other facilities facilitate the journey to this holy place.
According to the locals, who sell cold drinks and other eatables during the festival, over 5,000 devotees visit this temple during
‘mahashivratri’.
“I am performing Abhishek in this temple since last 25 years. I come here every month to seek blessings of Mahadev. I find peace here,” Sunil Naik, a devotee of Mahadev from Ponda said.
Naik said he never misses the Abhishek in this temple.
There are many such devotees who visit the temple during festivals and also every month.
