Saglani and Messias had physically prevented the Canacona deputy collector as well as the complainant by blocking his path with vehicles on grounds that the inspection can be validly carried out only if an official off the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority was accompanying the inspection party. The inspection had to be called off.
The inspection was mandated after Pereira pointed out to the Tribunal that the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority had demolished only one of the 28 shacks in Canacona taluka while claiming that all
the demolition exercise was completed.
The National Green Tribunal had also issued notice to a former Member Secretary of the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority Srinet Kothawale after Pereira alleged that he filed a false affidavit before the Tribunal.
The applicant Aleixo Pereira contended that the Advocate General on instructions of the Member Secretary of the GCZMA made a false statement regarding the completion of demolition drives at Salcete and Canacona even though shacks have not been demolished yet.
The case will be heard on March 10.
