Konkan Railway officials have confirmed that the two persons caught on the camera while having bath along the railway tracks in violation of hygiene and sanitation norms at the Margao railway station tracks are railway employees.
After The Goan carried a story with the photograph of the two persons bathing with water from the railway water pipeline along the Margao railway station tracks, inquiries conducted by the Konkan Railway officials indeed revealed that the two persons ere employees of the long distance trains whose journey ends at Margao.
In fact, KRC senior official, Public Relations Baban Ghatge informed that the KRC has sounded caution to the railway employees against having bath in the open and along the tracks, warning that they would be penalised as per the rules in force.
“The two persons captured in the photograph having baths are the railway employees of long distance trains that stop at the Margao railway station. After the incident was brought to our notice, we have issued warning to the railway employees that they will be penalised in future if found violating the norms. Instructions have been issued to the employees of long distance trains that they should avail the sanitation amenities provided at the Margao railway station,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ghatge has pointed out the blood stains spotted on the Margao railway station was not a result of any stabbing incident, but a fight over bag snatching.
The KRC official said that CCTV footage and inquiries with the Railway Protection Force and Konkan Railway police station have revealed that the incident arose over a bag snatching incident. “When the accused victim tried to snatch the bag of a railway passenger, the later retaliated back with fist blows as a result of which he fell down and sustained injuries. While the passenger later continued his journey, the victim was admitted to the hospital,” he said.
