Devotees take part in darshan of Shri Mallikarjun at Rajbagh

CANACONA

Hundreds of devotees participated in the darshan of Shri Mallikarjuna Dev at Rajbagh beach in Canacona on Thursday. The deity was mounted on a decorated palanquin and began its journey from the Shristhal temple on the traditional route early Thursday morning.

On the way towards the sea, the palanquin had about nine halts before it reached Devavela, the seashore at Rajbagh, where the idol was bathed in the sea. The devotees then bathed in the sea with great devotion and traditional fervour before taking part in the darshan. After all the devotees had taken the darshan, the palanquin returned to the Shristhal temple.

A fair at the site featured all kinds of items, such as sweets (khaje, laddu, chana), traditional Shigmo drums, braids, tips, and other household items.
