As rumours did the rounds that Leader of the Opposition, Digambar Kamat will join the BJP to head the government as the new Chief Minister, Kamat was clear in saying that he is one person who does not live in the past nor in the future, but in the present and that his legs are firmly rooted in the ground.

South Goa District Congress Committee chief, Joe Dias also rubbished the reports as mere speculations spread by vested interests to create confusion in the minds of the people.

When the media questioned the Opposition leader on the sidelines of the opening of D’Vera, a gold and silver jewellery showroom in the new market area of the commercial capital, Kamat said though he believes in destiny, he does not dream in what others say on his future political career.

He made it clear to the media that he will not fall prey to the reports spread by vested interests. “I don’t live in the past nor in the future, but I live in the present. I believe in destiny, but at the same time I am firmly rooted to Margao and that’s why people of Margao have been electing me to the Assembly for the last 25 years,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Leader of the Opposition has congratulated the splendid performance of the Congress Party and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in the Jharkhand Assembly elections.

In his tweet, Kamat congratulated the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for the splendid performance in the Assembly elections. “People of Jharkhand have reposed faith in the values of the Congress, which believes in inclusive democracy,” he said, while congratulating Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for the success.

“The voters have given their verdict in favour of the alliance of Congress, JMM and RJD,” he said, while expressing his confident that the alliance government will live up to the expectations of the people of Jharkhand and will come out with people-friendly schemes and policies.
