: The district authorities on Monday reviewed the dengue situation in Sao Jose de Areal village as the deputy Collector Ajit Panchwadkar issued directions to the IDC to inspect the industrial units and report compliance.

The review meeting which was attended by officials of the Goa State Pollution Control Board, Health, IDC, besides the Village Sarpanch Julio Monteiro, also took into account the number of dengue cases reported in the village.

Panchwadkar told the media after the meeting that he has issued direction to the IDC officials to inspect the industrial units and find out whether they are used for the purpose they were allotted to the parties. “I have received complaints that many industrial units have changed the scope of the work without approval from the IDC. Inspection of the units will unravel the factual position at the Nessai Industrial estate”, he said.

The deputy collector said that the authorities will also inspect the areas, including the industrial area, which was affected by the outbreak of dengue.

Replying to a question, Panchwadkar said the GSPCB has issued notices to 47 scrap yards operating in Sao Jose de Areal village.
