PONDA:
“The sentiments of villagers should be taken into consideration and the Goa Assembly should discuss this issue,” he said. Wagh rushed to Navdurga temple on Sunday afternoon and assured the villagers to raise the issue in ongoing assembly session. Reacting to the large police force deployed in the precinct of temple, Wagh questioned why Mahajans failed to perform temple duties since many days if they respect deity. “Is this rajya (State) of Bahujan or Mahajans? Why 700 police are deployed here to protect 10 Mahajans? I don t understand this system,” Wagh said. “I am of the opinion that Mahajan Act (or the Regulamento of 1886) should be scrapped. Though Portuguese has left the State, the acts formed in their regime still exists. They should be revised,” he said.
