Taking the defeat in his stride, Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias attributed the poor showing by the ruling party in Cuncolim to the multiple party candidates in the fray.
Reacting to the party’s defeat, Clafacio said the presence of multiple candidates in some of the wards caused a division of party votes, benefitting the opposition.
“The BJP did not field a panel precisely because of the presence of 2-3 party candidates in the fray. This caused a division of votes, which has benefitted the opposition”, he said.
Making a point, he said the Panzorconne-Veroda belt, considered the BJP stronghold, went to the opposition because of the split in party votes due to the presence of 2-3 party candidates in the fray.
