A private medical practitioner and a CHC staffer were among the seven persons who tested positive on Friday.
According to Canacona Health Officer Dr Vandana Desai, the seven cases were detected in Poinguinim (2), Loliem (1), Shristhal (3) and Nagarcem (1), taking the total number of total cases to 371 in the taluka.
“As of now, there are 126 Covid active cases,” said Dr Desai.
Incidentally, Covid cases continue to rise in Canacona, with the CHC detecting between 8-10 cases on average each day.
19 new Covid cases in Pernem
PERNEM: Nineteen new Covid cases were detected in Pernem taluka, taking the overall count to 1,340 in the taluka.
The new cases were detected in Chandel (4), Naibag (1), Tambose (2), Hankhane (1), Vazari (1), Dhargal (2), Korgao (2), Pernem town (2), Tuem (1), Chopdem (1), Mandrem (1) and Morjim (1).
So far over 1,000 have been discharged after recovering from the virus, while about 300 are undergoing treatment. Twelve persons have succumbed to the virus.
Mopa has recorded the most cases (210) in the taluka, followed by Mandrem (154), Pernem town (107), Tuem (88), Dhargal (85), Korgao (73), Arambol (69) and Virnoda (42).
