Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes on Tuesday advised aspiring councillors to prepare seriously for the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) elections and to start their work.
He was speaking after launching the work to hotmix two roads in the municipal wards of Kindlebhag and Mastimoll at a cost of Rs 42.5 lakh.
“Aspiring councillors should prepare seriously for the municipal elections, which can take place sooner than what has been announced so far.”
“Don't wait for April, as municipal elections could be held in March itself. Aspiring councillors should reach out to people now itself,” Fernandes said.
The road between Sheller and Dellem at Mastimoll is estimated at Rs 33 lakh and ex-councillor Kishore Shet and aspiring candidate Dhiraj Naikgaunkar were present at the function.
The road between JNV school and Nirakar temple at Kindlebhag is being hotmixed at a cost of Rs 9.5 lakh and ex-councillor Ramakant Naikgaunkar, ex-CMC chairpersons Nitu Dessai, Shamsundar Desai, BJP Block President Nandip Bhagat, Damodar Chari Mahesh Naik were also present.
