PANAJI
It has been 72 years since the Constitution of India came into effect and our country finally became a republic. Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim celebrated this auspicious Republic Day with honour, optimism and enthusiasm in the school campus. The programme was co-ordinated by Reshma Mapari, Lata Vernekar and Jenifer Godinho.
The unfurling of the national tri-colour was done at the hands of the Chief Guest, Fr Joaquim Lobo, Manager of Don Bosco College, and was followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Fr Avin Carvalho, Rector of Don Bosco Panjim, Fr Savio Gomes, Principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary Panjim and Cedric Silveira, Principal of the Don Bosco College were also present. A melodious medley of patriotic songs was presented by the students of the Higher Secondary.
Fr Joaquim Lobo gave an inspiring speech on how we as citizens of India ought to uphold the honour, dignity and uniqueness of our nation. The ceremony was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dimple Shah, the General Secretary of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim.
Right after the Republic Day programme, the investiture ceremony for the Student Council of the academic year 2020-21 was conducted by Josefa Pinto. The Class Representatives and Club Leaders led by the Sports Secretary, Asmita Khaunte, Cultural Secretary, Desiree Sequeira and the General Secretaries, Mark Cordeiro and Dimple Shah were invested with sashes at the hands of the Principal, Savio Gomes. The Student Council was then administered the oath of office, following which short speeches were delivered by the General Secretaries, Mark Cordeiro and Dimple Shah.
This brief ceremony was concluded with a motivating message by Fr Gomes, wherein he exhorted the leaders to be good role models, giving priority to core values such as integrity, responsibility, teamwork, accountability and diligence.
