Anticipating shortage of blood in the State, the National Student Union of India (NSUI), Goa has requested the youth particularly in the age group of 18 to 45 years to donate blood before May 1.
“There is a likelihood of acute blood shortage as once a person takes the vaccine he will not be able to donate blood for two and a half months. To curb this unwanted situation, all those planning to take the vaccine after May 1 should consider donating blood first,” said NSUI (North Goa) President Naushad Chowdhari.
NSUI Goa has also appealed to people not to come out of their houses unnecessarily.
“We are battling a pandemic and Covid cases are rising at alarming rates. We should stay at home and observe all SOPs if at all we have to go out,” Chowdhari said.
He also requested those who have recovered from the Coronavirus should donate their plasma and save lives.
“NSUI is trying to create a database of people who have recently recovered from the virus so that these people can donate their plasma to those in need,” he said.
