A day after his explosive interview in which he levelled serious corruption charges against Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's government triggered a political storm, former Goa Governor Satyapal Malik, who is currently occupying the Raj Bhavan in Meghalaya questioned the stance of the Opposition in Goa of using his statements to target the chief minister while they did nothing when it (corruption) was all happening.
In a telephonic conversation with the editor of Prudent news channel, Malik said he did not direct his corruption charges in his interview against Sawant per-se but the entire government system and that many were involved.
"Entire government is involved. Several more people are involved. I don't want to name them," Malik said in his telephonic interview.
He also questioned the role of the political Opposition in Goa by raising the issue of their failure to expose the corruption in the government but now using his statements to target the Chief Minister and seek his resignation.
"Why are they making noise now? Didn’t they see what was happening in Goa all this while?” Malik asked referring to the campaign launched by the Opposition in Goa to target Sawant after his explosive interview aired on Monday.
Malik said, he has not taken any contract 'teka' to discredit the Chief Minister or his government in Goa.
"I have not taken any contract to discredit Goa government,” he said in his conversation with the Editor of Prudent.
"I love Goa people. I love Goa government. I also have affection towards Goa CM. I do not want to do the work of targeting anyone to cause damage,” he added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaokar alleged that the Opposition was hand-in-glove with Malik to malign the image of chief minister.
Demanding that the Home Ministry should initiate an inquiry against the former governor his allegations, Ajgaonkar said the allegations made by him are with the intention of giving advantage to the Opposition.
“Why did he not take action when he was Governor of Goa. Now he has woken up after two years. He should resign as Governor and speak against the elected government”, Ajgaonkar said.
