“It’s a shame that you boast for raising BSNL issue in Lok Sabha. Please resolve at least one issue in your five years tenure since we can’t expect you to do anything in Goa despite having your own Central and State government,” Chodankar said.
While reacting to the statement and questions raised in Lok Sabha by South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar on poor performance of Goa BSNL and the issues of connectivity, broadband connections, poor customer services & other problems, Chodankar said that he is an MP from the ruling party and people have elected him to resolve the basic issues like BSNL services and not to just raise the issues. “People know about this issue and they want solutions,” Chodankar said, adding Sawaikar has been raising BSNL issues since the last two years without any solutions. “We have enough people to raise the issues, we want solutions for which you have been elected,” Chodankar reminded the South Goa MP.
The AICC Secretary said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been talking very loudly everywhere about Digital India, Cashless India, while BSNL is unable to provide basic facilities needed for this in Goa. “It looks as if this government is ‘Government of Slogans’ rather than actions and the South Goa MP is no exception to it,” he added.
He dared Sawaikar to get the BSNL top brass sacked for the situation instead of paying lip service to the issue.
“Applications for shifting of telephone connections, broadband connections are deliberately kept pending with the lame excuse of feasibility,” he said, adding that BSNL mobile services are also very poor and shows no sign of improving.
