Dr. Francis Colaco, noted consultant physician, cardiologist and echocardiographer, was recently felicitated by friends and well-wishers for being invited as Visiting Professor at the John Hopkins Institute, Maryland, USA.
During his one month stint at the institute which is regarded as the 'Mecca of Medicine' in the world. Dr. Colaco will be interacting with world’s topmost echo experts. He will present his own work and learn about the latest techniques in echocardiography, a rare recognition for a Goan in the field of medicine.
Speaking on the occasion, Datta Naik recounted the contribution of Dr. Colaco in the medical field with a strong commitment to the ethics of the profession. Dr. Colaco has always remained in the forefront for all social causes and the burning issues that confront the state, he said.
In his brief address, Adv. Mario Pinto Almeida described Dr. Colaco as one with a humane touch, with the interest of the patient uppermost in his mind.
Dr. Colaco is also well-known for his regular columns in local newspapers on health, politics and social challenges that confront Goa. He is also associated with social and cultural institutions and has carved a name as a singer and strong proponent of the traditional Goan Mando.
As a part of felicitations, the traditional Goan brass lamp was handed over to Dr. Colaco as a memento.
