The Dramapur gram sabha scheduled on Sunday was adjourned after members took exception to the manner in which the meeting was sought to be conducted by the panchayat.
When the meeting chaired by Sarpanch Sanjana Chari called the meeting to order, members led by Domnick Noronha questioned the chair for calling the meeting as the second meeting of the year when the panchayat has not passed the annual budget. He also took objection to the fact that the panchayat did not invite proposals from the members assuming the meeting was indeed the second gram sabha of the current calendar year.
Members pointed out that the panchayat ought to have called a special gram sabha meeting if the purpose was to approve the annual budget. After much discussion, the Sarpanch adjourned the meeting with a promise to call for the meeting after the election code of conduct is lifted.
