Driver booked in hit-and-run mishap at Ganjem-Usgao

Ponda police on Monday night registered a case against the driver of an unknown vehicle in connection with a hit-and-run incident, which caused serious injuries to a scooter rider at Ganjem-Usgao.

Babal Gawde (21) of Sattari was seriously injured in the mishap and is undergoing treatment at the GMC hospital at Bambolim.

Police said the incident took place on September 11 when Gawde was travelling from Usgao to Valpoi on a scooter.

On reaching Ganjem, the scooter driver was seriously injured after being hit by an unknown vehicle. Locals moved the injured rider to the Piliem Primary Health Center in a private vehicle, from where he was later shifted to GMC hospital.

Police are on the lookout for the driver involved in the hit-and-run incident and investigations are in progress under the supervision of Police Inspector Vijaynath Kavlekar.
