An Odisha native, who relocated to Goa just a week ago and found a job as a helper at a local restaurant, has been arrested on charges of possessing and trafficking drugs by Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) sleuths.

The youth identified as Ranjit Nayak, aged 19 years, is booked under various sections of the NDPS Act.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (ANC) Nerlon Albuquerque, the accused was caught red-handed with a consignment of 10kgs of Ganja, valued at Rs 10 lakh in the international market.

With this being the first ANC raid of the year, the ANC sleuths cracked down on four drug trafficking rackets within six days in the last week of December 2023. The raids led to the seizure of narcotics worth Rs 1.5 crores.
