PONDA
Three persons who were arrested on charges of gang raping two minor girls late Monday night have been remanded to custody.
According to police, the two minor girls had arrived for labour work in Goa a few weeks ago. On January 8 at around 10 pm, both girls had gone to Kalay to board a train to their native village and they were in search of food and shelter.
They approached the accused Sana Singh, Jay Singh, and Devlal Agaria, who were living in a makeshift hut near the railway station and they offered food and shelter to the girls. Later at night, the three men allegedly gangraped the minor girls.
After the incident, the two minor girls went to a shop near the railway station and informed a shopkeeper who, in turn, reported the matter to the Railway Police. A Railway police team went to the site the investigate and since the incident took place outside the railway station, the case was handed over to Collem police. All three suspects were arrested late Tuesday night.
They were sent for a medical examination on Wednesday morning and were later produced in court, where they have been remanded to custody. PSI Vibhavari Gaonkar is investigating the case under the guidance of Collem Police Inspector Sagun Sawant.
