Pedestrian suffers hip fracture in Bardez accident

Police have registered a case against a 30-year-old motorcyclist for allegedly riding under the influence of alcohol and injuring a pedestrian at Nagoa in Bardez.
According to police, the accident took place on May 4 at around 7.15 am near Sandeep Garage. The accused, identified as Anurag Kashyap, a resident of Chicalim, was riding a Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 350 (AP-39-QF-0551) from Calangute towards Nagoa.
Police said the rider was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and riding the motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life. He allegedly lost control of the motorcycle near Sandeep Garage and rammed into a pedestrian, identified as Sanjay Palienkar, who was walking on the footpath from Calangute towards Nagoa.
The pedestrian suffered a fracture to his right hip bone in the accident.
Police have registered an offence under Sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
A notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita has been issued to the accused. Further investigation is being carried out by HC Vishal Gawas.
