Dry grass caught fire in fields at Malwara-Agassaim, on Sunday afternoon with the Old Goa fire personnel arriving at the spot on receipt of the information.
According to sources, the fire could have been lit in the nearby field which then spread across the other fields.
“The fire brigade was immediately called as the fire was spreading rapidly,” a local informed The Goan while stating that four of their banana plants were destroyed due to the fire.
The fire personnel arrived at the scene and undertook the firefighting exercise to ensure that the fire did not spread.
