Dry grass fire created another scare in the city of Mapusa with clouds of smoke enveloping the Mapusa-Parra road reducing visibility near to zero on Friday afternoon.
The fire started in the fields on the right side of the Mapusa-Parra road near the Bodgeshwar Temple at around 1.30 pm.
With the blowing wind, it spread further down the fields throwing thick clouds of smoke in downtown Mapusa.
The Mapusa fire station received a call at 1.32 pm and a fire tender was rushed to the site to bring the fire under control.
A fire officer informed that three water tankers were used to douse the fire which was finally brought under control at around 6 pm.
It may be recalled, a similar dry grass fire paralysed traffic along the National Highway (NH-66) near Guirim, Mapusa on May 11.
