Paying compliments to the Diocesan Society of Education (DSE) for its contribution in the field of education, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar termed the DSE's contribution as “immeasurable and vast.”

Addressing a gathering on the occasion of 'Christmas Fiesta' organised by DSE at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, on Friday, Parsekar said he appreciates the DSE's contribution in the field of education. “I feel DSE is the largest education society in the State with the largest number of educational institutes and caters to the largest number of students,” he remarked.

The CM reminded the audience about the plight of education in the State during Liberation, while stating that the parameters have now changed to the extent that Goa is the number one State in the whole country in the field of education.

Earlier in his address, the CM claimed Goa is the role model of communal harmony in the entire country as its citizens are known to respect each other and appreciate each other's cultures, tradition, festivals and sentiments. To substantiate his viewpoint, Parsekar said Hindus and Catholics jointly celebrate certain festivals such as 'Jagor' in some parts of the State.

In his address, DSE president Fr Joseph Silva thanked the Chief Minister for his help to the DSE. “We hope you will continue to help us by giving approval to our new schools which we are willing to open to educate our children, especially poor children,” he remarked.

Fr Silva termed Christmas as a festival of love, friendship and respect for God's creation. “Christmas is a season to accept God's love, compassion for people, his creatures. Christmas invites us to love and respect all people and protect our beautiful environment around us,” Fr Silva added.
