MARGAO
As sewerage “chambers” have turned into “craters” posing dangers to motorists across the city, there’s no sign of the PWD, whether roads or sewerage, or any of the authorities, including the office of the district collector or the Margao municipality to carry out the patch work with cold tar.
The heavy downpour as well as the wear and tear has left the tar over most of the sewerage chamber covers damaged, resembling like craters, wide enough to pose danger to motorists. These craters have come in the way of the smooth flow of traffic on most of the roads, right from the Abade Faria road to the Gayline-Grace Church road, but there’s no sign of repair work commencing till date.
Despite a bright and sunny day, the PWD contactors were not seen on the ground to repair the craters, raising questions whether it’s not the routine job of the PWD, both roads and sewerage sections to carry out the repair work.
Last time round, officials heading the PWD roads and sewerage were involved in a blame game, with the roads section saying the work of repairing the chambers rests with the sewerage department and the later pointing accusing fingers at the roads division for not repairing the chambers.
