Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday launched the “E-Beat Book App” - developed by students of Government Engineering College (GEC) for Goa Police, a technology which will assist the department on multiple issues including tracking its records.
Hailing the initiative, the CM said this is the first time in the country that students have developed solutions for a State Police department.
“This is a good initiative...it is a user-friendly and secured app...it will be easier for the department to maintain and search for records,” he said as he launched the App in the presence of DGP Jaspal Singh, IGP Omvir Singh, other police officers and the GEC students-faculty.
Details shared by the department reveal that the students have developed the App free of cost, despite its cost of more than Rs 50 lakh in the market. The app can be given to other police organizations on demand at nominal rates, the officials said.
Featuring three interfaces - The Mobile App, Web Dashboard and Admin Panel - the eBeat Book Application has been designed for various user roles within the police hierarchy. Its features include secure access through biometric/Face ID authentication, OTP-based registration, user-friendly profile management, location and person tracking, integration with Maps, and real-time tracking through the Dashboard.
“The eBeat Book app is a cutting-edge digital platform set to replace the traditional physical beat book for monitoring beat areas,” reads a press statement issued by the department.
Superintendent of Police, North Goa Nidhin Valsan IPS had recently spearheaded his vision and launched the first of-its-kind CREATEATHON competition wherein student teams from various colleges participated in creating a solution for digitizing beat book. The best team was selected from the competition, motivated and inspired to make the eBeat book a success.
