The Static Surveillance Team (SST) intercepted a vehicle proceeding from Panaji to Ponda while carrying Rs 17,17,635 in denominations of Rs 10, 20 and 50.
Sources informed that the incident occurred in the morning, when the agency was engaged by a private bank to deposit money into another private bank.
The SST, which was stationed at Mardol junction along the bypass road to keep an eye on money being transported for election purposes, intercepted the vehicle with the name of the agency
and found the documents
suspicious.
The staff of the agency failed to produce an authorised letter, while the document they possessed had several errors on it. The SST became suspicious and Returning Officer for Priol Sudhir Kerkar, DySP Sunita Sawant and PI Sudesh Naik were summoned to the site.
The bank manager was also summoned to the site, but as there was no clear documentation, the money was handed over to the IT department.
