An Air Arabia flight made an emergency landing at Dabolim airport in the wee hours of Sunday after a 70-year-old passenger from Kerala complained of chest pain. The lady passenger died while being shifted to hospital.
According to Dabolim Police, a lady passenger, Leela Abraham, along with her husband Abraham Thomas were flying from Sharjah to their native place at Kerala.
The police said according to Thomas, Leela complained of chest pain in the wee hours of Sunday and he immediately informed the air crew about the medical condition of his wife and sought medical attention. The air staff in turn brought the matter to the notice of the pilot.
Police said as Dabolim airport being the closest, the pilot after explaining the situation took permission from the Dabolim Airport Air Traffic Control for emergency landing.
The police further said the flight landed at about 4 am and an ambulance, which was kept ready, shifted Leela in an unconscious state to Chicalim Cottage Hospital.
The police stated that the doctors at the hospital after examining Leela declared her dead on arrival.
Thomas informed the police that Leela was suffering from diabetes and asthma for last 20 years.
The police suspect that Leela died of cardiac arrest. The body has been sent at GMC Hospital in Bambolim for autopsy and PSI Rajit Mandrekar is investigating the case.
